Golf Yard Porvoo opened its doors on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Just over a week before the grand opening, it became clear at the studio that the original plan would not work as intended. A challenging situation was resolved through seamless collaboration.

At the end of November, communication between Golf Yard and their system provider at the time began to break down. The delivery of the access control system was delayed. Antti Mäkelä from Golf Yard did not want to rely on a solution he couldn’t trust – or postpone the opening due to uncertainty. At the last moment, he decided to stop waiting and switch to Thril.

When Things Don’t Move Forward

Golf Yard had initially chosen a well-known system provider within the golf simulator industry, and the choice seemed logical. An access control partner was also involved in the project.

Unfortunately, the project did not progress as planned.

Golf Yard waited for deliveries for two weeks, but nothing happened. Without access control, the doors could not be opened.

On Thursday, November 13, Antti decided enough was enough. He called Thril and explained the situation.

At that point, it was clear that we needed to act fast.

Sometimes Speed Matters More Than Anything Else

I asked Antti to hold on for a moment and called Rollock—our partner known for fast and reliable execution. Rollock is one of several access control providers with whom Thril has plug-and-play compatibility. Ari Pudas from Rollock picked up the phone.

We went through the situation together:

Golf Yard’s opening was at risk, which would mean significant revenue loss for the entrepreneur. We had to act immediately.

Ari didn’t hesitate for a second and set things in motion.

By that same Thursday evening, the plan was clear. Rollock would deliver the access control system, and we would handle the booking system setup. That evening, we completed the Thril onboarding for Golf Yard.

Bookings, calendars, products, pricing, and simulator-specific settings—everything was configured and ready. From a systems perspective, the studio was fully prepared.

The Hardware Arrived Faster Than Milk Turns Sour

Rollock’s devices arrived to Antti on Tuesday, November 18, and were installed on Friday. We operate on a turnkey basis, meaning access control was up and running immediately—without any additional integration work.

Golf Yard now had a system that worked from day one.

Just one week after Antti’s frustrated phone call, the studio opened its doors fully operational.

When the Doors Need to Open

The reality of the sports industry is that entrepreneurs don’t always have the luxury of waiting. When doors need to open, the tools must work. Even small issues can bring a business to a halt.

We believe that our role—and the role of our system—is to enable success.

For me and for us, this was a launch that was close to going off track, but one we managed to save through fast, seamless collaboration. We want to build and nurture partnerships where solving problems and finding solutions is easy.

Welcome to the Thril community, Golf Yard Porvoo.
