Many of us in the team are active ourselves. We play tennis, padel, run, golf, fish, lift weights, join group classes. You name it. And every one of us had run into the same problem: If you want to try a new sport or find new people to play with, things quickly become complicated.
You need a different app for almost every sport. Payments work differently everywhere. And sometimes you can’t find people to play with even if the courts are free.
Something that should be simple has become unnecessarily complex. At the same time, the media constantly talks about a growing inactivity crisis.
That’s when the idea for Thril was born.
What if everyday sports could all exist in one place?
We’re Building Something We’d Want to Use Ourselves
Thril is built for people who move.
Simply because we are those people ourselves.
When you play padel, you quickly realize how different that world is from golf. When you go for a run or hit the gym, you notice that every sport operates in its own small ecosystem. The same goes for pilates, group fitness classes and yoga.
But from the perspective of the person moving, the motivation is the same: The desire to move and feel good.
That’s why Thril wasn’t built for just one sport. We’re building something we would actually use ourselves.
Two Years of Building the Foundations
Building a startup is rarely a straight path.
Getting the first customer took time. A long time. Getting the tenth customer also took time – but not quite as long. Eventually things started to move faster.
Over the past two years, we’ve rebuilt payment logic, redesigned the booking flow, and iterated on many features multiple times.
Sometimes we rebuilt things because we realized we had done something wrong. Sometimes because customers showed us a better way. And sometimes because a new feature was simply required to make a partnership work.
That’s startup life. And honestly, that’s how it should be.
Our Customers Are Building This With Us
One thing has been clear from the very beginning: We are not building this alone.
Sports entrepreneurs have been involved in shaping Thril almost from day one. They’ve told us what works in their daily operations, and what doesn’t. Listening to customers is at the core of how we build.
A good example is payments through employee wellness benefits.
In many systems, it’s complicated. We wanted to make it as simple as possible for both the user and the business.
Whenever entrepreneurs tell us what slows them down in their daily operations, we try to solve it.
Autumn 2025
Autumn 2025 was the moment when many things started falling into place.
Within six months, we grew from five customers to 52.
And at the same time, we kept hearing the same message from our customers.
One golf simulator entrepreneur told us directly:
“You’re the only system that actually solves all of our problems.”
Those moments stick with you. Knowing that you’ve genuinely helped someone creates enormous motivation.
Another customer told us we save him more than a full day of work every month.
That’s the kind of impact we’re aiming for.
Ambitious – Maybe Even a Little Crazy
There are many systems in the sports industry.
Most of them are built for one specific sport. Padel. Golf. Gyms.
We’re building something different. One platform for all sports.
It’s an ambitious goal. Some might even say it’s a little crazy.
But if no one tries to build it, it will never exist.
Why This Matters
There is a lot of talk about an inactivity crisis.
At the same time, the world of sports and exercise has become more fragmented than ever. We believe staying active should be easier.
Trying a new sport should be as simple as booking a table at a restaurant. Finding people to play with should happen in seconds.
And above all, exercise should be fun.
But if we succeed, being active in the future could be much easier than it is today.
