A year ago, Thril set out to launch its service by the end of 2024. At the time, the system was still in its early, somewhat unfinished phase, but it was being developed intensely across southern Finland. In December, we successfully delivered a working solution to our first customers right on schedule. This marked not only the beginning of a new chapter but also the start of 2025. Up until this point, the Thril team had been developing the service part-time. That was about to change. As the product matured, it began showing clear growth potential, which also brought increased demands on customer delivery and operations. To meet these demands and shift to the next gear, funding was essential.
Money In, Gears On
The first part of the year was largely spent in pursuit of financing. From a metrics perspective, the business was still in its very early stages, making the process far from straightforward. Additionally, the team’s internal vision of the “final” form of the service, especially on the consumer-facing side, differs quite a bit from what Thril is today, and even more so compared to the beginning of the year. This discrepancy created a challenge. It raised questions like, ”The product in the pitch deck doesn’t fully exist yet, so how can we trust it will work?” Despite this, the team’s speed, commitment, and determination made an impression. These qualities won over the right people. Today, the company’s funding is secured, and as of early summer, the first full-time Thril employees officially joined the team.
Now in August, it is clear that this shift has significantly accelerated both sales and product development. Even with the challenges brought on by the funding round, the pace during spring was impressive, especially on the technical side. Dozens of new features were released, depending on how you count. This laid the groundwork for sales to start gaining real momentum over the summer. At this point, we can confidently say that Thril’s feature set stands strong among competitors. From here on out, everything is upside and innovation. A major milestone in itself. What makes this moment especially exciting is that the product is finally at a level where we can begin focusing on features that will truly make Thril unique. These innovations had been deliberately postponed to allow time for foundational work. Although this was sometimes frustrating for the team, the groundwork is now in place. We are finally ready to build toward the “final” version of the product. This would not have been possible without the exceptional effort from our technical team during spring. They deserve major credit for making this happen.
During the first half of the year, we shipped 424,230 lines of code and around 1,000 updates, including the following highlights:
- Webshop for memberships, multi-use passes, and credit top-ups
- Event creation and management
- Self-service for recurring reservations
- Integrations with Epassi, Edenred, and Zevoy employee benefits
- Built-in email marketing tool
- List management tool
- New user role for sports clubs
- Equipment rental sales
- Integrations for access control and lighting systems
- Our own Copilot: Gameplan AI

Momentum Builds
As summer began, so did the next chapter in Thril’s story. The team grew. Work could suddenly happen during daylight hours. And interest around the product started growing by the day. We reached the milestone of 10 active clients. Judging by our HubSpot pipeline, that number is unlikely to remain static for long. Demos are now held across Finland daily, which led us to strengthen our sales team. Frans Grönlund recently joined our nimble sales unit, after originally being a Thril customer. If that is not a credible reference, what is?
”I originally started as a Thril customer, but ultimately joined the team because both the company culture and especially the product made a very strong impression on me.”
Frans Grönlund, Thril & Ikaros Padel
On the technical side, early summer has focused on chat functionalities, automation, and the first tools to support community-building inside Thril. Late spring brought a major milestone when the first sports club adopted Thril. This is a significant step toward our goal of building a single digital ecosystem for the casual sports sector. This milestone has already begun to show signals that we are moving in the right direction. These signals give us more confidence in our long-term vision than we had at the start of the year. Our goal for the second half of 2025 is to collect even more of them, as they are the most valuable guide for our direction. In order to get those signals, we need new features and feedback. That means our core focus remains on improving and expanding the product. Several exciting and forward-looking updates are on the way. Feel free to reach out if you want to hear more.
Wishing you a great rest of the summer!
Warm regards, Juuso & the entire Thril team
