A brand new 1,800 square metre indoor golf centre in the heart of Tallinn opened its doors in November 2025. At the same time, a new booking system transformed the customer experience. OlyBet Golf Arena’s Sten Soo shares how a rigid old system gave way to Thril, and how it made the customer journey seamless.
When the construction of OlyBet Golf Arena began, Sten Soo’s workdays regularly stretched deep into the night. 1,800 square metres of empty space had to be turned into Estonia’s largest year-round indoor golf arena – a place meant for all types of golfers to meet, socialize and practice all year round. The challenge was to set up a system that would run by itself without the need of extra on-site administrators.
”We Were Essentially Handcuffed with the Old One”
Sten has been part of the company now known as OlyBet Golf Arena for 13 years. He started as a summer intern and is now the club fitter and head of all things technical.
During the construction of the new arena, the team had a clear vision for how bookings, memberships, customer management and pricing should work. The old booking software, however, offered no flexibility to make it happen.
”We were essentially handcuffed with the old system. When we moved to Thril, we realised that everything we wanted was possible. And on top of that, we found features we didn’t even know we needed yet”
Sten Soo, OlyBet Golf Arena.
He also heard about the old system’s shortcomings directly from customers. When new visitors wanted to come to the arena for the first time, they sometimes had to call or reach out by email. The experience simply wasn’t smooth enough.
24 Hours to Onboard
OlyBet Golf Arena now offers a wide range of memberships and booking options. Most systems could only handle a handful of them. Sten is quick to highlight that Thril handles all of them, and new possibilities keep emerging.
The pricing model helped too: you pay for what you use, no annual commitment.
Any remaining doubts disappeared fast. From the final meeting to the system being fully up and running took less than 24 hours. Analytics were live the same day. Excel could finally be pushed aside.
”Maybe two weeks in, we realised we never wanted to go back.”
From Bookings to Events – and Soon, Everything Else
OlyBet Golf Arena started using Thril in November 2025 with bookings only. Events followed shortly after. From the start of 2026, customers can pay for drinks and snacks via QR code directly in the Thril app. No queues, no one needed at the counter.
”A customer can make a booking, pay for it, show up, extend their session themselves and pay for their food themselves. That’s the perfect way for us and for our customer. Thril has helped us enormously with this.”
The vision is clear: one app as the gateway between the customer and the arena.
”Six months ago I wouldn’t have believed something like this was possible. Now it’s becoming real.”
”If You Want a Simpler Life, Move to Thril”
OlyBet Golf Arena fills a gap that Tallinn simply didn’t have before. In Estonia, the outdoor golf season lasts five months at best – and for the rest of the year, the sport had nowhere to go. OlyBet Golf Arena has quickly become a favourite among golfers and filled that gap for Estonian players through the long winter months.
Sten is proud that the arena has become a social hub for its community.
”People come in at one in the afternoon and leave at eight. They see their friends, spend their day here. Golf is a social sport, and we want to make that possible.”
We asked Sten how he’d sum up Thril for an entrepreneur thinking about making the switch. He smiled and didn’t hesitate:
”I’d tell them: if you want a simpler life and a simpler way to run your business, just move to Thril.”
