Thril has raised €0,6 m in funding to support its growth. Investors believe in the digitalization of everyday sports, and the pre-seed funding round was closed in February. The investors include several prominent Finnish family office investors, such as Laakkonen Kapital Oy. With the new funding, Thril aims to accelerate growth in its home market while already looking further toward expansion across Europe.

Thril is a community-driven marketplace for sports and physical activity, serving both active individuals and businesses in the sports industry. The company aims to become the go-to tool for everyday and active athletes alike. The funding enables Thril to take the next step in developing its business and strengthening its mission to promote a more social and sport-agnostic culture of everyday activity.

According to Hirsimäki, the system is already performing very well in the Finnish market and now has the potential to grow internationally. He also highlights how encouraging it is to see investors believing in the digital transformation of sports.

”We have created a strong plan for international expansion, and now we can truly begin executing it. It’s exciting to see that investors clearly believe in the digital development of sports”, he says.

Rapid Growth and Product Capabilities Convinced Investors

Thril’s rapid growth during the second half of 2025 demonstrated the strength of the product, particularly on the business side. The team’s execution and positive feedback from customers reinforced investors’ view that the company is well positioned to continue its strong growth in the future.

Thril also plans to leverage the expertise of its investors, especially in strengthening administrative and governance functions.

”We are gaining excellent expertise in scaling growth companies, particularly in administrative development. Our investors also bring extensive experience from the sports industry, which means we now have strong domain expertise supporting us”, Hirsimäki explains.

According to him, the investors’ vision for Thril’s future aligns closely with the company’s own ambitions. The next step will include expanding the team to support the company’s continued growth and international expansion.

A Sport-Agnostic Marketplace for Physical Activity

The idea behind Thril originally emerged from the founders’ own needs. A social marketplace covering everyday physical activities across different sports simply didn’t exist.

According to Hirsimäki, Thril aims to become the platform where anyone interested in staying active can go when thinking about what they might want to do today or tomorrow.

The platform helps people discover activities, participate, and invite others to join. The core idea is to promote a stronger culture of everyday movement.

One of the platform’s biggest strengths is that it is not limited to a single sport. Businesses and clubs from any sport can adopt the system, allowing people across different activities to benefit from the same ecosystem.

Currently, nearly 70 Finnish and Estonian companies are in the process of adopting the system. The platform already supports more than a dozen sports, and thousands of active users use the app every month.
